my first day at onshore... never ever imagined this will happen so soon in my
life...everything happened so quickly.. i was not prepared mentally to leave my sweet home
soon after getting my long time aim to work from chennai...

One thing tat puzzles me... always i used to be nervous when ever i do anything for the first
time... But to my surprise my first air travel was nervous though, but my entry to a new
country did not make me feel nervous... My entry to a new work location did not make me feel
uneasy... yea the culture is different but like the work culture here... the way people greet
others whom they even know before...Its different but we should accept things that are good
in any culture....

One thing for sure i miss my home badly... Food is obviously new but soon will start cooking... the biggest
punishment i can give to myself...

Now i completed my 100 days stint away from home, i turned to look back the path... i cannot imagine i worked so much than ever before.. Its not i was pressurized to do so but i like the work and new challenges...i havent worked more than 12 hours in office before but in this short span i worked for nearly 24 hrs not once but twice. OMG is it me who have jus worked 8 hrs a day and that too most of the time in cafeteria... (I pinched myself,,ouch its not a dream :)) sending emails to offshore, offshore calls, escalations, onsite coordination, client interaction, pizzas, burgers, salmons, casadia's, sushi's, chicken nuggets, spinach, dounets, mexican gumbo last but not the least working on a laptop and that too macprobook.. the list is never ending...
how can i forget my cooking, not bad at all i cook pretty decent...

The life over here is the same but the terms used are totally different..
here they call
lady'sfinger - Okra,
petrol - Gas
ground floor - first floor
currency - bill
bill - cheque
chillies - peppers
weight - pounds and ounces
parcel - to go
cycle - bike
curd - yogurt
bun - bagel
biscuits - cookies

there are more, these differences simply confuses a innocent like me:( i would not blame this as this is their world and i have entered this den. So as the saying goes "when in rome (do as the romans do)" i do not want to do what they do but get used to the things here..
i need one more birth to understand this culture:)

Few ppl i have met they are crazy abt US life style, it is their interest but i wonder why i am not like them...I always love to be in india and that too Chennai throuoghout my life...
Is that something wrong with me, no way as said in my previous post i wanna be myself thats it....

Being myself!

Finally got some time to express this long time question i kept on asking myself...
From the day i remember, i heared from many ppl saying that I have to live a life like a good person... but they just do not stop with that, they give examples, like i should follow truth like harichandra, i should be like X,Y,Z et al..
Then initial stages i tried to be like that, then one question kept on alarming within me....
Is that wrong in being the original? is it a crime to live without a mask?
I feel defently not, I wanna be myself!!! when i try to live like others then i am acting throughout my life by loosing my identity... then i am no more true... so i decided let me be myself, i do not want to get dragged by the so called "X" factor...
Whether it is right or not I wanna be myself!!!!

Our first hero/heroine.

Last week i met my cousin with his kid. The little kid was very active and he asked me a question. The question was very simple for me, "how many alphabets are there in english?" . Sounds silly right:) though it was easy for me i told 26. The kid did not accept it at the first go. Instead he verified the answer with his father and then after his confirmation accepted it:)

So it reminded me of my early days. If we look back, we would hav learnt many things from our parents. DUring those days we take everything for granted whatever our parents say. Starting from eating with right hand to knowing things. Our mom will teach us about our basic habits/relationships. Our father teaches about the external world. So we move so closely with our mom and father will be like mentor. We treat them as our Heros/Heroines. Isn't it?

But once we grow up, we get to know many things by watching television, reading news paper and from many other media. At times we do argue with them. Imagine once we considered them as our heros/heroines, but later we mite forget what had happend in the past. For any building (whatever may be the height) the foundation is very important. Though the foundation is not visible, we can't regret it's importance. Likewise whatever heights we reach the base is built by them. So we would have reached that peak without their base.

We can admire any person at any stage of our life ,but always our parents are our first heros/heroines.Think about it, you will know I am correct :)

Riding ships……

Everyone of us drive many ships with many people on the crew. Wonder how? Yea we involve in many relationships J starting from our family relationship to the onsite coordinator relationship. Relationship with our family members is got by birth, we have no control in its making, but it is the first school which taught us many lessons. Family is our 1st world. We might have friendship the 2nd one in our life. We get into the relationship with a person who eventually becomes our life partner. Then we get promoted to a new role as a parent, a new relation which is born along with the kid. In our lifetime we have to drive any of these ships. We all enjoy sailing in these ships. The smooth ride will always be good. None of us like to break the bond in the relation until some misapprehension or an argument ignites.

It’s like sailing on a silent sea, which will be relaxing but when the ship hit by a storm or an iceberg, then it tests the stability of the ship.

Should such a situation arise, its better to be calm and think smartly. The mistake can be on either parties, so we have to speak our heart out. There should not be a single percent of ego in any relationship. If we are gonna have it, then it’s like digging an hole in a moving ship. Its always easy to destruct a relationship but it is very very difficult to build and maintain it. One small story strikes my mind now let me brief it out.

Once a Junior School teacher asked her students to bring some potatoes in a plastic bag to school. Each potato will be given a name of the person whom that child hates. Like this, the number of potatoes will be equal to the number of persons they hate. On a decided day the children brought their potatoes well addressed. Some had two, some had three and some had even fivepotatoes. The teacher said they have to carry these potatoes with them everywhere they go for a week. As the days passed the children started to complain about the spoiled smell that started coming from these potatoes. Also some students who had many potatoes complained that it was very heavy to carry them all around. The children got rid of this assignment after a week, when it got over.
The teacher asked, "How did you feel in this one week?" The children discussed their problems about the smell and weight. Then the teacher said, "This situation is very similar to what you carry in your heart when you don't like some people. This hatred makes your heart unhealthy and you carry that hatred in your heart everywhere you go. If you cannot bear the smellof spoiled potatoes for a week, imagine the impact of this hatred that you carry throughout your life, on your heart?"
MORALE:
* OUR HEART IS A BEAUTIFUL GARDEN THAT NEEDS A REGULAR CLEANING OF UNWANTED WEEDS.
* FORGIVE THOSE WHO HAVE NOT BEHAVED WITH YOU AS EXPECTED AND FORGET THE BAD THINGS. THIS ALSO MAKES ROOM AVAILABLE FOR STORING GOOD THINGS.

So let’s drop all the hatred and avenge we have in our thoughts in this day of the year and start the year afresh. Let’s plant flowers in our heart not the thorns.

Being BLIND!!!!!!!!!!!

The word blind means “sightless” according to thesaurus and as per dictionary it means “Destitute of the sense of seeing, either by natural defect or by deprivation; without sight.”. Does it really related to a person who is not able to see anything through his vision? I don’t agree with that. I wondered is that true, but let me pen down few things that stroke in my mind.Last week I saw a Blind person A (According to the dictionary) he is sightless. He was singing in a reality program. The anchor of the show introduced him saying that he has sung in as many as 3000 stage shows and a very special person and first one of his kind (visually disabled) to participate in the show. Then also I never minded about the anchor calling him blind.Let me brief about the TV show is all about winning 5 lacs on singing songs from diff category of the participant choice. They need to sing it by seeing the lyrics on the display screen flashed in front of them. At some point of time the lyrics will be left of blank and the participant has to complete it with the correct lyrics. So on successful completion of each category they will get a prize amount and on crossing 8 such hurdles they will win the final prize. So imagine how difficult its goona be for a “normal person” (A person with eyesight). So 3 lifelines were provided to the participants. One among those help lines were phone-a-friend. Our hero MR.A told that he doesn’t need the above lifeline and he can manage on his own. This really stunned me and I was surprised with my JAW open.I wondered what a confidence this person has and laughed within myself as the world says he is blind. I took a step back in my mind on how this world (Including myself) defines the word “blind”. The show started and he chose a song from a category and started singing (obviously without seeing the display which he could not). Poor chap was not aware where the blank is and kept on singing till the end of the song. The anchor surprised and told A u have crossed the hurdle and your memory is awesome. U sang the blank part and continued singing. It amazed me a lot. Even though his expertise in stage singing would have helped him, the kind of confidence and memory jus made me dumbstruck. So I questioned myself should they be considered disabled? Na, they shouldn’t be. They are just blind by vision but not by will and determination, they can’t see but they can make others see what they are capable of.He crossed 2 such stages and reached the 3rd round where he missed by a whisker but to tell the truth he deserved to be the true winner. Now I think blind doesn’t mean a person who cannot see but I would say a person is blind only when he can’t think for himself, I would call a person blind if he is not determined with confidence and will power. I would call a person blind if he cannot handle things on his own ( I actually mean a looser in this context).
